What Distinctions Exist Between Porpoises And Dolphins?

Porpoises are smaller than dolphins, measuring less than 2.5 meters (8 feet) in length. With the exception of finless porpoises, they have a short head, little to no beak, and a small triangular dorsal fin. They are also often chunkier than dolphins. The teeth of dolphins and porpoises are also formed differently. Porpoise teeth are spade-shaped, but dolphin teeth are conical.

Which Dolphin Is The Biggest?

The biggest dolphin in the dolphin family is the orca (killer whale). The biggest males may weigh up to 10,000 kg (22,046 lbs) and reach heights of 9.8 m (32 ft 2 in). These are the only whales and dolphins that can grow to a height of two meters (6 feet 7 inches) and have enormous, black dorsal fins.
