"I mostly thought, 'What in God's green earth happened?'" It came as a complete surprise. Michael is the name of my little brother. We asked our parents if we could name him Michael Jackson when he was conceived.
Michael Jackson and Michael. They gave us just the Michael instead as a compromise. Michael was a leader when he was a child in the 1980s.
4.Khalil Harrison!

It was my job as a makeup artist to handle Michael Jackson's new visit. A friend of mine told me by email that he had died.
It was supposed to be Monday when I signed the visit contract, so I'm really shaking right now. Even though I was excited about the visit, I felt like something bad was going to happen. I loved him without a doubt.
6.Tamie Shannon!
"I felt sad when I heard. I thought, "Good gracious, the king!" I watched Michael grow up because he was only a few years older than me. I was part of the official group of Michael Jackson fans.
You could see Michael and Jermaine on my wall. "Billie Jean" was my favorite song of all time because I thought I might be his "Billie Jean."

"I remember that Michael Jackson came to Trinidad to do a show in 1978, when I was a police officer there." I was part of his security detail, and it was a quick one. Ladies would start yelling wherever he went.

The women were all over him, so he didn't have time to be shy. I will always love James Brown. There were many hard times for him, but he's still important to me.

"When I heard a woman on the tram telling someone, 'Michael Jackson is dead,' I wanted to cry because I think the way people treated him led to this heart attack." This person has never been a kid. He was a big man trying to live out a kid's dream. I believe he was a terrible person before his time.

"Right from the start, I wasn't sure if it was true or not." I was shocked when I heard he had died, though, and started to think of all of his songs, like "Butterflies" and "You Are Not Alone."
10. Ryan Cousil!
"He was the most important and best artist ever." You understand that your importance depends on how many people you can inspire. That person was a leader. He changed every part of the game. There are at least twenty artists who came after him, like Usher, Justin Timberlake, and Omarion. Michael set the example, and now everyone else has done the same.11. I'm Theresa Jones
"I began to cry when I learned it. Someone asked me not long ago, "Who was your childhood hero?" I then said Michael Jackson. I enjoy Michael Jackson a lot. When I was younger, my friends and I made shirts with "PYT" all over them. Oh, I love that song. The funeral for James Earthy colored was a joke. I have no idea what Michael Jackson's will be like.

"That shocked me. In high school, I danced to "Thriller" for my show. He was an example for a huge number of people who seemed to depend on him.
13. Jackson Alexander, Jr.
"I was shocked, but as I said before, Mike's been through a lot." A lot of famous people have died because of their stressful lives. I feel bad that he couldn't handle something like this when he was my age.

I care about what's happening to other Black men because I'm an African-American man. Take a look at Luther Vandross, Gerald Levert, and now Michael. I feel like this was a wake-up call because I'm asking myself, "What do I need to do to make it another year?"
14. Mrs. Charlotte D. Gould
"He seemed to be going downhill all the time, even though he was so big and important." It looked like he wasn't happy with who he was or what he had become. Although he came from a very well-known family, it didn't seem like that was enough. "If I had to pick three words to describe him, they would be amazing, talented, and sad."
15. Jo Johnson Betsy
"The driver told us that Michael Jackson had died while my husband and I were on a bus going into the city." He is the King of Pop, and his so many amazing records have set the highest standard. My kid always thought he was Michael Jackson.
His song "Thriller" is my all-time favorite MJ tune. "There will never be another person like him."
