Cook Steaks Like Brisket for Juicy, Bold Flavor |

Smoking any cut of steak will make the meat more tender and give it a great smoky flavor, no matter what seasoning you use.
If you want to smoke the steak until it's perfect, Shoults says, "...cook them low and slow at 250 degrees Fahrenheit in the smoker..." "I usually bring them up to about 135 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit, pull them off, and let them rest in an ice chest for 20 or 30 minutes," he said about checking the meat's temperature in addition.

When you smoke a steak like brisket, you should think about more than just Shoults' tips. One important factor is the kind of wood you use to smoke the steak. Using pecan or maple wood chips will keep the smokey taste mild. You can also smoke the steaks with hickory or mesquite trees if you really want to get into the smokey flavor. It's also important to choose the right cuts of steak for smoking. If you're feeling fancy, you can also get flank steak, top sirloin, or even filet mignon, which are Shoults's favorite cuts.
You should let the steak rest for at least five minutes per inch of thickness before cutting into it, no matter how it was cooked. "You can then slice them to whatever thickness you prefer," said Shoults. For the best cuts, use a sharp knife and cut against the grain instead of the grain.
